Wisconsin Council for the Blind & Visually Impaired

WordPress Web Design | Digital Consulting

Wisconsin Council of the Blind & Visually Impaired serves individuals across Wisconsin. Their old Drupal-based website was difficult to maintain due to the coding skill required. This WordPress website project provided the Council with a new site that was easy to use for both the public and staff and delivered on accessibility.

The website was moved from the Drupal platform to WordPress using a lightweight theme and the Elementor builder so staff could easily administer the site in-house. The redesign included an overhaul of the navigation. The overall look was updated as well to include brand colors, easy-to-read fonts, iconography and inclusive photography.

This project required close collaboration with Council staff and a team of advocates for plugin accessibility testing; screen reader testing; and user testing and change implementation. This website also required custom coding. Old links were redirected to ensure continuity of content and maintain SEO value.

When the website was complete, I provided onsite training and written documentation to ensure staff had the skills necessary to handle ongoing content updates and maintenance needs.

"Working with Amanda was delightful. She was so conscientious throughout our website build. We knew we needed to have a lot of accessibility options built into the site. She was dedicated to making our website accessible, easy to use and visually appealing for our visitors. I would highly recommend Amanda for any web project because of her dedication to doing things the right way and because of the respect she continues to show for our team and our clients."
